An autumn street clock wears a leaf crescent
Published · Updated
An autumn street clock projects from a brick corner on an ornate black iron bracket. Its cream dial has simple dark hour bars and two clear hands, leaving the round face uncluttered. A leaf crescent curves around the lower and left edges. Dried oak leaves, papery seed heads and pale strawflowers form an uneven border that feels gathered and tied by hand.
The iron's curled supports repeat the round outline of the clock without hiding the way it attaches to the wall. Slight wear on the dark rim and a soft reflection in the glass add material depth. Warm morning light catches the dried stems, making their small branching shapes stand out from the cream face.
Below, an empty brick streetscape recedes beneath golden foliage. A globe-topped lamp, dark shutters and damp paving give the setting familiar neighborhood details. Sunlight breaks across the wet road in small bright patches. The clock provides a still center for the picture, while the leaves connect that everyday object to the changing season.
