An emerald pool rests inside the dark crater
Published · Updated
An emerald pool rests inside the dark crater far below its uneven rim. Pale mineral edges trace the water against the steep inner slopes, while fine channels run down the outer cinder cone. Warm light touches the upper edge and leaves parts of the deep basin in cool shadow.
The elevated view includes rough lava ground, smaller distant cones and low mountains beyond the main formation. The bright green water becomes a compact center within the broad charcoal landscape. Changes in surface texture and the overlapping heights of the ridges establish the scale, from the nearest broken rocks to the softened horizon beneath a pale clouded sky.
