Baobab trunks rise into the copper dawn
Published · Updated
Baobab trunks rise into the copper dawn above a low layer of mist. The nearest tree has a broad scarred base and thick branches spreading outward high above the grass. Two more prominent trunks stand farther away, their smaller crowns outlined against the warm space around the rising sun.
A shallow puddle breaks the grassy foreground and holds a partial orange reflection. Fine bark ridges catch the side light, while sparse leaves create a delicate edge around the heavy branches. The change from the immense near trunk to the softer distant trees gives the open landscape depth without any road or building competing with their unusual forms.
