A cork bark harvest beneath the trees
Published · Updated
A cork bark harvest reveals contrasting textures in a grove of broad trees. Two workers support a tall curved bark slab, its deeply ridged outer surface facing the camera while the newly exposed orange trunk stands behind it. Their gloves press against opposite edges, making the size and weight of the piece easy to read.
Dappled sunlight falls across a checked shirt, a blue work shirt and the scattered leaves underfoot. An axe rests on a low stump at the edge of the photograph, and previously removed bark lies stacked nearby. Dark boots, rough tree roots and layers of dry leaves keep the scene grounded in the practical rhythm of outdoor work.
