Three children enjoy an autumn picnic in their Halloween costumes beneath tall golden trees. A girl dressed as a bee holds up a muffin while a boy in a knight costume pours a drink from a metal thermos into a paper cup. His helmet rests beside him on the blanket. A girl wearing black cat ears lifts her arms and laughs as leaves scatter above her.

A red tartan blanket covers the leafy ground, with a wicker basket, a plate of muffins and small pumpkins arranged in front of the children. Sunlight filters through the canopy and catches loose strands of hair, the costume wings and the edges of the falling leaves. The dark tree trunk and shaded ground frame the bright gathering. Ordinary picnic details and playful costumes give the scene a relaxed Halloween feeling on a clear October afternoon.
