A Handlebar Moustache Gets Its Last Curl
Published · Updated
A handlebar moustache takes one final adjustment before its owner leaves the dressing room. He pinches the end of one curl lightly between two fingers, guiding the waxed moustache tips into their broad upward sweep. Individual hairs and small differences between the sides keep the elaborate shape feeling natural.
His floral brocade waistcoat adds burgundy, gold and olive detail above an ivory shirt, while a small plain wax tin rests in his other hand. The green wooden chair and open wardrobe keep the setting modest and practical. Warm light catches the woven pattern and curled hair, with cooler dusk at the high window. The full seated view gives the careful grooming gesture room within the little backstage space.
