The Indigo Coil Reading Room
Published · Updated
Hundreds of indigo spirals climb the tall wall of a stone reading room. Each round piece is made from layered strips of cloth, with pale frayed edges tracing the coils. Small discs crowd together above the bookshelves, while larger circles and open winding channels spread across the upper plaster. The changing sizes make the wall feel lively without disturbing the quiet space below.
Two brown leather chairs face a small round table near the windows. A warm floor lamp stands behind them, and a long low shelf carries books beneath the textile work. Heavy beams cross the roof, while stone piers divide the tall black-framed windows. Cool daylight reveals the blue fabric and the rough walls; softer lamplight warms the chairs and the nearest wooden surfaces. Outside, yellow leaves brighten the view between neighboring buildings. The worn floorboards and woven rug give the room a settled character.
