Indigo milkcap rises from the wet leaf litter
Published · Updated
An indigo milkcap rises from wet leaf litter beneath a green woodland canopy. Its broad blue cap dips toward a dark center, with tiny flecks of soil and water scattered across the surface. A curled brown leaf rests on the rim, connecting the unusual color to the familiar debris of the forest floor.
The blue mushroom is seen from a low position that reveals closely spaced gills below the cap and a pale, lightly mottled stem. Two smaller caps sit farther back among twigs and fallen leaves. Their rounded shapes repeat the foreground form without competing with its size. Soft daylight brings out damp edges, fine veins in the leaves and the rough texture of decaying wood.
Ferns and tall trunks recede into a gentle green haze above the mushrooms. The narrow frame gives the small scene a sense of depth, moving from shiny leaves at the bottom to the bright canopy beyond. It works as a woodland nature picture or a study in the contrast between earthy browns and a striking natural blue.
