An iridescent fishing fly in the vise
Published · Updated
An iridescent fishing fly reveals the small material choices behind a handmade lure. Synthetic green fibers wrap the compact body, catching hints of gold under the work light. Dark red bead eyes, fine feather details and thin translucent wings give the piece an insect-like shape, while the curved fishing hook clearly identifies its purpose.
The fly tying vise holds the hook firmly in narrow steel jaws, with scratches and serrated edges visible near the clamp. A copper thread bobbin and blurred feathers sit farther back on the wooden bench. The close side view concentrates on thread wraps, the hook eye and layered fibers, allowing the background to soften naturally. Warm light and dark workshop tones keep the tiny construction readable without making it look like a live insect.
