Kimchi Preparation Colors the Cabbage
Published · Updated
Kimchi preparation brings strong color and delicate layers into one close overhead view. Two gloved hands open napa cabbage leaves above a stainless steel bowl, spreading red pepper seasoning between the pale ribs. Yellow-green edges, fine red vegetable strands and the glossy mixture remain visibly different in texture.
Several folded cabbage halves rest around the working piece, with more unseasoned leaves and chopped scallions nearby. The bowl's round edge gives the busy center a clear boundary against the dark stone counter. Soft side light lifts the wet surfaces without flattening their folds into a single red mass. The composition follows the hands and leaf layers closely while leaving enough space to understand the whole preparation area.
