Orange hoodoos rise between the snowy gullies

Published · Updated

Orange hoodoos rise between snowy gullies in a broad canyon amphitheater. The layered spires vary in height and width, with rough cream-colored upper sections above deeper rust tones. Dark conifers occupy the wider shelves and shaded spaces between the rock walls.

White snow rests on ledges and across the sloping ground, leaving the steep faces exposed to low winter sunlight. Rows of smaller pinnacles recede toward a distant plateau beneath a pale blue sky. The elevated oblique view makes the narrow channels and connected eroded fins readable within the larger landscape. Warm near rock and cool distant shadow give the scene depth without losing the texture of the closest columns.
