Osprey nest crowns the red channel marker
Published · Updated
An osprey nest crowns a red channel marker in a broad blue bay. The bird stands upright on the uneven rim, its folded wings showing layered brown feathers. A dark eye stripe, pale breast and hooked bill remain clear against the softer clouds behind. The nest spreads beyond the small top platform in an untidy mass of sticks.
Below it, the red channel marker reveals crossed steel braces, bolts and a low maintenance rail. Faded paint and darker weathered patches give the structure a used appearance. Its broad circular base meets the water along a narrow band of green growth. Small waves curl against that edge and break the red reflection into moving strips.
Marsh islands form low golden-green lines across the distance. Open water between them creates several layers behind the nest without crowding the bird. Warm side light brightens the steel and catches the osprey's face, while the surrounding ripples stay cool blue. The full structure connects the small watchful bird to the wider bay, showing a practical navigation landmark that has also become a substantial nesting place.
