Petrified logs cross the pale desert
Published · Updated
Petrified logs cross the pale desert in heavy broken segments, with red mineral faces exposed at the fractured ends. Cream and ochre veins run through the nearest cross section, while rough stone ridges follow the length of the trunk. Narrow gaps separate the pieces and reveal the gritty ground beneath.
Pale desert gullies extend toward low layered hills, with smaller fossil fragments scattered between them. The low evening sun grazes the uneven surfaces and casts long shadows across loose stones. A spacious blue sky holds thin white clouds above the eroded ridges, balancing the close detail of the nearest log with the broad, dry landscape beyond.
