The Silver Cascade Stair Hall
Published · Updated
Thousands of fine silver chains hang through the centre of this tall stair hall, forming overlapping curtains with pointed crests and deeply curved lower edges. Light catches the individual links in tiny scattered highlights, allowing the layers behind to remain partly visible. Dark metal stairs turn around the installation, their simple mesh railings providing a quieter pattern beside the dense suspended work. Warm cream walls surround the full height of the space.
A narrow window reveals the blue evening sky and the outline of a tree, adding a cool note to the softly lit interior. Below the sculpture, a low leather bench and a rough stone plinth establish the scale without filling the floor. Concealed light follows the gallery edges and grazes the pale walls, while the metal remains visibly solid and finely textured. The photograph captures the contrast between the straight fall of individual chains and the broad curves they create together. It offers a clear view of an ambitious installation within its architectural setting.
