Ten narrow relief columns of reclaimed objects painted from deep red through orange to pale yellow on a sunlit gallery wall

The Wall of Reclaimed Colour

Published · Updated

Ten narrow reliefs make a warm spectrum across the gallery wall, moving from deep red through orange and ochre to pale yellow. Each strip contains a tightly fitted collection of small everyday shapes. Combs, lids, handles, rings and short tubes remain recognizable beneath their shared coat of paint. The single color within each column lets the varied surfaces read together, while the gaps of bare plaster keep one section separate from the next.

Seen from a gentle angle, the objects project forward into the daylight, leaving little shadows around their edges. Some are smooth and round; others carry perforations, teeth or a worn texture. A continuous pale stone ledge anchors the arrangement below, and the terracotta floor echoes the warm middle colors. High windows bring clear light into the room, with a plain bench waiting at the far end. The scale turns discarded fragments into an orderly architectural feature.
