Snow traces the twisted hazel branches
Published · Updated
Snow traces the twisted hazel branches in thin white ribbons along their upper surfaces. Pale yellow catkins hang straight down between the twisting limbs, their soft clustered forms contrasting with the dark uneven bark. Smaller corkscrew twigs spread outward from the thicker branches and overlap against the cool gray sky.
A low stone wall crosses the winter garden behind, with rounded shrubs and dry stems partly buried in fresh snow. The near trunk remains dark at its base, grounding the intricate upper growth in the quiet planting bed. Gentle overcast light keeps the snow texture visible and separates the many curved branches without sharp glare or deep hidden shadows.
