Swings wait above the salt marsh
Published · Updated
Salt marsh swings wait in a quiet circle beneath the rising sun. The empty wooden benches hang from short chains between substantial timber posts. Each seat faces into the open center of the pavilion, with room around it for an unhurried pause. Their repeated slats and hanging lines form a gentle rhythm beneath the broad copper roof.
A curved boardwalk leads from the foreground toward the pavilion. Railings follow its changing direction, and visible piles support the deck above reeds and shallow water. The roof has an open circular center and raised seams that catch the morning light. These ordinary construction details make the unusual public resting place feel firmly part of the marsh landscape.
Beyond the structure, narrow channels wind between amber reed beds. Low mist softens the far trees, while pink and gold clouds gather around the sun. Reflections carry the warm color into the water. With no people present, the empty seats and open approach suggest a place ready for conversation, a quiet view or a long watch of the changing sky.
