Teasel Meadow Opens above the Valley
Published · Updated
A teasel meadow rises above a misty river valley in low golden light. Purple flower rings wrap narrow bands around the green oval heads, leaving their sharp upper tips and long curved bracts exposed. Several stems stand at different distances, so the flowering forms belong to a whole hillside rather than a single isolated plant.
Deeply textured leaves branch from the upright stems. Fine points catch the sun along their edges, while small droplets brighten patches of green near the foreground. Dry grass and scattered white flower clusters weave between the teasels. Older dark heads remain visible farther down the slope, adding quieter shapes behind the fresh purple bands.
The valley opens widely beyond the meadow. A winding river reflects the warm sky between wooded banks, and thin mist gathers over fields and low ground. Layered ridges become softer toward the horizon. The tall framing connects the nearby plants to this distant landscape, moving from rough leaves and flower heads toward water, trees and light. Both the botanical detail and the open setting remain central to the photograph.
