The Copper Vine Stair Atrium
Published · Updated
A polished mahogany handrail curls into a broad spiral at the foot of this sweeping marble staircase. Below it, slender metal stems rise and branch through the balustrade, held together by small warm brass fittings. The grey green steps curve around an open atrium, continuing toward a landing beneath an oval glass roof. Rain beads across the skylight, bringing a soft silver light to the veined stone walls and floor.
Amber plaster warms the upper level, where lamps frame a glazed doorway decorated with fine botanical lines. Another amber glass door sits beneath the stairs, joined by a narrow console and a vase of autumn branches. A dark leather bench follows the wall, providing a quiet, simple companion to the elaborate stair. The photograph draws attention to the meeting of materials: cool marble, gleaming wood, delicate metalwork and textured glass. Their curves and reflections make a small architectural journey from the entry floor toward the light above.
