The Crimson Fan Vault Gallery
Published · Updated
Fine ivory ribs open like fans across the ceiling of this long crimson gallery, meeting at small gilded flower shapes. Tall pointed windows bring winter daylight into the room, with diamond panes and slender amber borders framing a lake and bare trees outside. The rich red walls hold landscape paintings in gold frames, and blue porcelain vases rest on dark wooden consoles. Pale blue benches line the edges of the polished parquet floor.
A patterned blue runner leads toward the pointed doorway at the far end, strengthening the long perspective without covering the wood entirely. Low afternoon light falls across the carpet and catches the warm edges of the furniture, while shaded wall lamps add a quiet amber glow. Branches in a vase near the windows repeat the delicate outlines of the trees beyond. The photograph shows how a bold wall colour can sit comfortably beneath intricate pale architecture, with soft blue textiles and open views giving the richly furnished gallery a calm, spacious character.
