The Figure Radiating into Steel Needles
Published · Updated
An abstract standing figure emerges from a dense network of dark steel rods. Shorter pieces build the head, shoulders, arms and legs, while longer rods project outward around the body. The human outline remains clear within the open metal structure, without skin or detailed anatomy. Both feet meet a thin rectangular plate that anchors the sculpture to the floor.
A high window lights the work from one side. Small highlights follow the metal edges and welded junctions, while the projecting rods cast a complex web of shadows across the pale stone wall. The long lines spread far beyond the central figure, extending its presence into the surrounding gallery.
The empty room leaves the full sculpture visible, including the longest rods and the grounded base. Rough masonry, worn concrete and uneven dark metal give the scene a tangible material character. The low diagonal view makes the depth of the construction easy to read. This photograph is free to use, including for commercial projects.
