The Home between Two Great Clock Faces

Published · Updated

Two enormous clock faces become the windows of a warm tower home. Their simple dark hour bars and long hands cross views of the rooftops, river and distant hills. Thick masonry surrounds the circular glazing, while timber beams span the room above. The familiar outline of a clock takes on an entirely different scale beside the furniture.

A leather sofa sits below the main face, facing a green armchair across a wooden table. A worn patterned rug gathers the seating area, and leafy plants soften the window corners. On the right, an oak stair rises to a small reading gallery. Books fill its shelves, and a shaded lamp lights the chair behind the iron railing.

Late afternoon sunlight reaches through both windows, drawing long shadows over the floorboards. The upper beams and gallery remain darker, preserving the height and depth of the room. Beyond the glass, the town feels far away while the seating stays intimate. This imagined home brings a quiet domestic life into an unusually generous view.
