The Looping Roof Garden Around Three Courts
Published · Updated
Three open courts interrupt the broad planted roof of this low hillside building. Each court has its own shape and planting, yet all three sit within one continuous garden surface. A narrow path follows the rounded roof edges behind a light protective railing. From the higher ground, the whole arrangement becomes visible at once: pale walls beneath green planting, glazed rooms opening toward the courts, and small trees rising through the spaces in the roof. The building keeps close to the slope despite its unusual outline.
A red-leaved tree occupies one paved court, while another contains a small lawn and a curved bench. The third gathers denser flowers and shrubs. These different centres give the connected roof a reason to loop and turn. Beyond the surrounding woodland, a quiet lake and layered hills recede into light morning haze. Damp paving at the main entrance reflects a little of the sky. The empty scene presents a home whose upper surface works as a garden route linking three sheltered outdoor rooms.
