Open Ribbed Towers in the Jungle Garden

Published · Updated

Tall concrete columns open into enormous petal-shaped crowns above this dense tropical garden. Curved ribs cross the pale sky, leaving the forms open to rain, vines and passing light. Smaller flared supports carry circular platforms at different heights, joined by narrow stairs and dark metal railings. Broad leaves gather around the lower columns, while a wet stone path follows the edge of the planting. Beyond the towers, mist softens a steep wooded mountain.

The unusual forms remain grounded by the visible weight of their materials. Dark rain streaks run down the concrete, moss gathers along ledges, and young plants settle into sheltered corners. The railings and repeated stair treads give a sense of scale without introducing people into the scene. Soft daylight keeps the foliage varied and the upper ribs distinct against the cloudy sky.
