The Parchment Crescent Writing Salon
Published · Updated
Three pale writing desks form a quiet line beside the tall windows of this walnut salon. Their curved supports carry dark round medallions decorated with insects, and the mottled parchment surfaces show small seams and subtle variations in tone. Matching chairs have open circular backs that sweep down into crescent bases, turning each place to sit into a striking sculptural form.
Small shaded lamps, leather writing pads and simple desk accessories give the unusual furniture a practical setting. Low shelves beneath the windows hold rows of books, while warm timber panels rise around the room. A faded ochre and blue rug links the three desks without hiding their distinctive outlines. Outside, steep coastal cliffs descend towards a grey sea beneath broken cloud. The cool daylight models the pale furniture and balances the lamps, making the photograph useful for studies of decorative furniture, atmospheric workspaces or an interior collection with a strong sense of craft.
