The Saffron Honeycomb Salon
Published · Updated
Hundreds of small golden recesses gather across the ceiling of this richly decorated salon, creating a canopy of pointed cells with green accents and pale edges. Three glowing glass pendants hang below the pattern. The walls repeat the green and saffron palette in glazed tiles painted with leafy stems, while small diamond panes of blue and turquoise glass brighten the tops of the windows. Pierced shutters filter sunlight into a delicate scatter of shapes across the room.
A curved green velvet sofa follows the wall, facing an octagonal brass table with a bowl of lemons. Carved wooden stools and a vase of leafy branches keep the furnishings modest enough to leave the architectural decoration clearly visible. Uneven glazes give the jade floor tiles a lively surface, reflecting both sunlight and the warm room above. Through an open window, flowering plants, slender trees and a glimpse of blue water suggest a sheltered coastal garden. The photograph celebrates colour, handwork and the cool comfort of a shaded summer interior.
