The Sweet Shop of Twisting Copper Chutes
Published · Updated
Tall glass cylinders carry columns of pink, yellow, green and mixed sweets above a row of curved copper chutes. Each chute bends down toward a small brass tap and a collecting bowl, turning the shop wall into a repeated series of sweeping lines. Arched trim, cream tiles and pale green panels give the equipment a fitted setting. The rounded walnut counter follows the same curve, drawing the eye from the foreground toward the window.
There is plenty to notice beyond the dispensers. Small trays of sweets sit behind the counter glass, worn cream and reddish tiles form a checkerboard underfoot, and a narrow upholstered seat fits beneath the tall window. Outside, wet paving and autumn leaves bring a cooler light into the room. Two shaded lamps catch the copper locally while the cabinets retain deep brown shadows. This original imagined shop brings together useful storage, generous curves and old-fashioned materials in one compact interior.
