The Woven Flower Lantern Restaurant
Published · Updated
Large woven lanterns open like layered flowers beneath the timber roof of this restaurant. Fine cane ribs curve through several flared tiers, allowing the warm bulbs inside to illuminate the construction. The repeated pendants lead the eye along the length of the room, their generous scale matched by tall arched windows and a high sloping ceiling.
Pale banquette seating follows the windows, with round marble tables and woven chairs arranged beside it. White flowers, clear glasses and simple place settings keep the tables calm. Mature palms rise from weathered clay pots, connecting the interior with the green courtyard beyond the glazing. Soft daylight enters through the arches and reveals the natural variations in plaster, timber and terracotta.
The room feels rich in texture while staying light in colour. Closely woven chair backs sit below the more open lantern frames, offering two versions of the same material. Old floor tiles reflect small patches of warmth without becoming glossy. The scene shows how a distinctive family of pendant lights can give a long dining room its identity, especially when the architecture leaves enough height for their shapes to unfold.
