Tumbleweed snowman towers over the desert town
Published · Updated
A tumbleweed snowman towers above a quiet adobe plaza at dusk. Three rounded masses of dry stems form the enormous twig sculpture, with dark circular eyes, a curved smile and an orange nose. A tall blue hat tilts above the head, and a long rust-colored scarf falls down the front. Branch arms reach outward against the evening sky.
The construction stays visible beneath the playful shape. Steel uprights, broad feet and bolted plates support the lower bundle on the brick paving. Light passes through gaps in the tangled stems, revealing how open and fibrous the large forms are. Their rough texture contrasts with the smooth dark hat and the soft fringe of the scarf.
Warm lanterns and small strings of bulbs illuminate the low buildings around the plaza. Bare trees rise behind their flat roofs, with rocky hills farther away under a blue and peach sky. The surrounding doors, chairs and paved space give a sense of the sculpture's scale. A familiar winter character has been assembled from dry desert materials, creating a welcoming seasonal landmark without covering the town in snow.
