Wooden boat ribs frame a careful fitting
Published · Updated
Wooden boat ribs sweep around a builder seated inside an unfinished hull. Long planks run toward the pointed bow, while large round openings in the internal panels reveal more of the structure beyond. A red hand clamp gives the work a clear point of focus. The builder braces himself on a temporary plank, with both hands close to the joint and his boots resting among the exposed framing.
The open boatbuilding shed allows low sunlight to move across curved timber, scattered shavings and worn floorboards. Water and a small moored boat remain visible behind the work. This elevated view makes the vessel's shape easy to follow, placing the careful fitting within the larger rhythm of ribs, braces and plank courses.
