A basilisk sprints across the forest stream

Published · Updated

A basilisk sprints across the forest stream with its body lifted above the water. Green scales catch the filtered light, and a yellow eye remains clear beside the small head crest. Raised forelegs balance the stride as one long hind foot touches the surface and the other reaches back through the spray.

The slender tail stretches behind the lizard above a trail of splashes and broken reflections. Hanging roots and broad leaves frame the shaded bank, with moss covering the damp earth near the water. The low viewpoint keeps the running movement close to the rippling surface while showing the dense forest through which the stream passes.
