A ghost orchid opens beside the mossy trunk
Published · Updated
A ghost orchid opens beside the mossy trunk, its pale flower held away from the bark on a curved green stem. Narrow pointed segments frame the center, while the broad lower lip divides into two long trailing lobes. A slender green spur bends behind the flower toward the tree.
Exposed gray-green roots follow the damp bark near the stem, with small moss cushions filling the spaces between them. Soft woodland water reflects the distant trunks through a gap in the background. The cool diffuse light preserves fine petal texture and the dark detail of the growing surface, giving the delicate flower a clear place within the humid wooded setting.
