A muddy boot has interrupted the walk just beside the wooden boardwalk. Its owner waits on a bench with one gray sock held above the wet ground. His other rubber boot remains planted on the boards. A friend bends beside him, grips the loose boot at its cuff and pulls it upward, drawing a clump of mud from the sole.
