A raised granary stands on mushroom stones
Published · Updated
A raised granary stands on mushroom stones beside the autumn farm lane. Its dark weatherboard walls rest on a continuous floor beam above broad pale stone caps and narrower supports. The open gap beneath makes the unusual construction visible, with grass and fallen leaves continuing under the building.
Russet clay tiles cover the hipped roof, while a plain green door and a small slatted vent break the timber surface. A short wooden access ladder reaches the door. Twin gravel tracks curve past yellow shrubs toward the field, and cool morning light picks out the wood grain and lichen on the stones, placing the compact store within its practical farm setting.
