A staghorn fern spreads over the rainy trunk
Published · Updated
A staghorn fern spreads over the rainy trunk with long forked fronds hanging below a broad central crown. Overlapping shield leaves surround the root mass, their older lower edges turning parchment-brown. The greener outer surfaces curve away from the bark and divide into narrow antler-like branches.
Smaller ferns and glossy leaves fill the space below, with a little mossy stone edging visible near the ground. Water beads catch the filtered light as it passes through the garden canopy. The upward diagonal view includes the full plant and its attachment to the tree, showing both the substantial root base and the lighter movement of its extended fronds.
