A titan arum opens in the tropical house, its tall ivory center rising above a deeply pleated burgundy bloom. The broad ruffled edge turns outward to reveal the contrast between the dark inner surface and the ribbed green exterior. A short mottled stalk joins the large flower structure to the soil below.

A plain dark growing tub gives the plant a firm base, while fern fronds and broad glossy leaves fill the surrounding space. High glass panes and slender metal rafters catch the morning light above the foliage. The low view includes the complete bloom and its immediate growing space, making its unusual height and layered surfaces easy to follow.
