A weaver nest fills the thorn tree
Published · Updated
A weaver nest fills the thorn tree with an enormous thatched mass. Thick branches support its uneven upper surface, while rounded straw chambers hang beneath with small dark openings. Coarse gray-tan fibers overlap across the roof and catch warmer light along the lower edges.
Small birds near the entrance holes give the structure a clear sense of scale. The full trunk remains visible above dry ochre grass, with other thorn trees scattered farther across the open ground. A subdued storm-gray sky sets off the pale nest, and a break of side light brings out the bark and straw without losing the breadth of the surrounding savanna.
