Bat colony streams over the dusk river
Published · Updated
The bat colony forms an uneven ribbon across the evening sky, beginning around the concrete bridge arches and spreading into open air. Nearer animals show separate wing positions, while the more distant group becomes a dense scattering of dark shapes. The stream rises diagonally through a coral sunset, creating movement above a bridge whose heavy curve remains still. Tall city buildings stand beyond the span, their first warm window lights appearing against the fading daylight. The wildlife and the built setting share the same broad frame.
Below the bridge, small ripples break orange reflections into narrow moving bands. Deep blue water occupies the foreground beside reeds and rough shoreline stones, bringing the viewpoint down to the riverbank. The open space beneath the arch allows the sky and distant towers to continue through the structure rather than stopping at its edge. No close observers or boats occupy the scene. Its scale depends on the contrast between many small flying animals, substantial concrete supports and the calm surface underneath, all held together by the changing color of the evening.
