Foghorn Station Above a Misty Headland
Published · Updated
A foghorn station stands above a rocky headland as sea fog crosses the distant coast. Two weathered red trumpets face the open water beside a small white service house. Warm light reaches the flared metal mouths and clapboard walls, giving the compact station a strong presence against the cool blue-gray ocean.
Each horn rests on a substantial braced support above a concrete base. Pipes connect the equipment with the building, while a low rail follows the edge of the maintained ground. The visible supports and connections make the station feel firmly anchored to its exposed site. A dark slate roof completes the simple service building.
A narrow path winds between granite outcrops in the foreground. Short grass and small pink coastal flowers soften the rough stone without hiding its shape. Farther away, forested slopes descend toward the water and disappear into the pale moving haze. The vertical photograph connects the footpath, complete station and broad sea in one continuous view, giving equal attention to the old equipment and the weather around it.
